First part of a commentary on the Vimalakīrti-sūtra originating from Shensi. Titles: 淨名經 閞中抄卷上 (upside-down, at beginning of scroll, in different hand from text); 淨名經閞中釋抄卷上 (at head of text); 淨名閞中釋批卷上 (at end). Colophon (same hand): “On the first day of the first month of the jen-ch’en year (932?), the bhadanta and recipient of the purple, the venerable Ts’ao from west of the Yellow River who is in charge of saṇgha administration for the capital and who has been to the royal city to present discussions before the emperor, went to the K’ai-yüan Monastery to lecture on the Vimalakīrti-sūtra as part of the services to the God of the City Wall for averting calamity. Furthermore, a disciple at that monastery, the monk Chih-hui, wrote down the first part of the commentary as he listened along. It was not until the twenty-second day of the second month that he finished writing it.” 壬辰年正月一日河西管內都僧政京城進論朝天賜紫大德曹和尚就開元寺為城堭禳灾[#5](sic; superfluous) 講維摩經當寺弟子僧智惠並隨聽寫此上批至二月二十二日寫訖. Rather thick, somewhat fibrous, ordinary, light beige paper; lightly ruled. Good, rapid hand; highlighting and punctuation in red. Some additions and corrections.
